The museum had some interesting exhibits. Love looking at all the old methods of farming. There are lots of interactive displays and the day we were there , there were a few school classes and I think the kids were having a great time. Outside there are barns which housed horses, cows and sheep and a blacksmith shop which did displays. The staff really knew their stuff and could answer any question you might have. Lots to see and do so a good place to visit especially if you have kids!
We are a senior couple and love taking visitors here. It's the real "old west" both in pictures and artifacts. There is always beautiful art on the walls in one section, so it's more than just history. But it's a working farm, so kids love it too, especially the cows!! There are two owls that live above the front entrance!! The gift shop has local wine and pistachios. If you are in town during a special event here, be prepared for crowds, but otherwise it is not crowded and a relaxing place to wander through and get to know the people who established this area.
This is an excellent museum to spend several hours learning about cowboys, ranches and farms. All family members would enjoy this. Get there in time for the milking demonstration.
You will find it here! With interesting exhibits that brings things to life- the live animals are a delight! Friendly staff and a wonderful view of Las Cruces too.
Thank you so much for the wonderful review. So glad you enjoyed the Museum and keep coming back.
This was a lovely place to be fair but we have alot of pet farms in Ireland and well it was just a little bigger version wiht more USA farm than what we are use to. However the owls are fabulous above the door (watch your clothes) and the staff are lovely too. We had just missed the millking parlour demo but they still talked to us for ages. The kids had their first pony ride and saw lots of animals. The gift shop was very nice too though. We enjoyed the day and it was very accomodating to the 3 smallies
This museum was a "must-see" for me and my husband was agreeable. We were warmly welcomed and staff pointed out two very large owls in the entrance rafters. Apparently these two come back to this farm every year to mate and are quite the attraction. We enjoyed all of the displays, informative posters, the farm animals, and a walk into the past. The gift shop is very nice.
Call ahead before you go to see about the outdoor exhibits. When we went at 2pm we were the only people there. Nothing to look at outside aside from animals in their pens with signs posted requesting you stay away from the fence and not touch animals. Indoor museum exhibits are nice but once again no one there except in the lobby to hand you a map and point you toward the hallways. Could have been better.
A working farm. see live animals and GREAT historical displays. A very nice store to buy things to make memories with.
Have been multiple times, exhibits change so never the same, well run, good displays, interesting ride seeing the animals, great afternoon to take "kids" (of all ages), definately recommended
Really neat! This is a great place to visit no matter your age. Farm animals to pet and learn about, great art and historical collections to experience. Perfect place to bring schools and groups to! They provide interpretive tours with docents and staff.
All year long there is so much to enjoy here at the museum. The gift shop is a must shop at place while you are there. The staff is always helpful and very friendly. Be sure to visit.
The history of farming and ranching in New Mexico is so beautifully displayed. Not a lot of fluff but enough information to keep one interested.
The grounds are a working ranch with livestock barns and greenhouses, working blacksmith shop and more. The museum has very nice display of farm implements and machinery, pioneer life exhibits and agriculture education. Lots to see and do for children!
Great historical museum with close up and hands on opportunities. Enjoy a live milking program, watch the blacksmith make various items of the past and current times (usually has a memo for the younger set). See all the farm animals by a walking tour or a riding tour around the farm yard, many exhibits inside displaying the generations of farming and early Native American agriculture. Always changing exhibits from photo to quilts.A wonderful attraction for all ages. Spend as long or short a period as you desire. Much to see and enjoy!
