Thank you so much for your kind response. Our staff and volunteers love to hear the positive feedback. We hope to see you in Clinton again, especially this summer.
Thank you so much for your great review. A perfect review of the museum. I am so glad you were able to these aspects of the museum during your visit. On the size of our museum, we have plans to remedy that!
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. We agree that the best way to enjoy our museum is discovering all that Clinton and the Gateway area has to offer. The area is rich in heritage tourism, and one can spend hours discovering the legacy left by the lumber industry.
Thank you so much for leaving a review. I can't think of a better description!
The staff really appreciates your kind words. Our volunteers take great pride in taking the time to explain how our sawmill works and the history of sawmilling.
I'm sorry that we transported Wisconsin's forests to build an empire down here in Iowa, but we really appreciate your wonderful review.
I was staying in Clinton while on a minor league baseball road trip and stopped by te museum suing the day. It is small, by very well done. Clinton was once the lumber capital of the country and the exhibits and video at the museum painted a very good picture of the city that I wouldn't have gotten otherwise, as well as the saw milling process. They also have a very nice clock made by the Tiffany Co. Which belonged to one of the lumber barrons.
If you like history the Sawmill Musueum has it. Actual working sawmill can be seen on weekends and every Saturday they have interesting programs.
Many planned children's events on Saturdays. There is a tree house structure that kids live playing on. There are also other fun interactive children's activities and plenty of interesting things for older kids or adults. It is also right on the river so make sure you go for a walk.
