This place looks great on their website, but it is very misleading. There are signs all over New Paltz stating that this farm has U-Pick apples and U-Pick pumpkins. The website states they have a firetruck that takes the kids to the pumpkin field. When we pulled up we noticed tons of pumpkins in front of the farm stand. My husband asked if they have U-Pick pumpkins. The response was "Yes, we do, but you can't pick them. They've already been picked." Needless to say, we left.

This was my 3rd year coming here and I have to say the first 2 years were great, but this year I was sorely disappointed. Here's the story. There were people directing us where to park, which was good since there are no marked spaces, but there were pedestrians walking all over the path for the cars, which was frustrating and dangerous. It was $12 for a small bag and $23 for a half bushel, which is pretty steep for apples, but hey we were here for some fun. You take a truck up to the top of the hill where there are pallets filled with different varieties of apples and trees. There were a lot of people at the pallets, but why pick from pallets when the whole point is to pick apples from trees? We soon found out. We started walking along the trees and there were plenty of red delicious. People were asked to not climb on the trees as someone fell earlier that day and was hauled away via ambulance as we got there. As you head down the hill there were plenty of gold delicious tucked around the corner of a house. A little further down the hill there were signs for courtland, jonagold, McIntosh, etc but the trees were empty or very very spare of apples. With bags half empty our group walked back up the hill to fill up with the only option left. The assortment of apples which were in the pallets, which were fairly empty. This is probably because everyone was digging though them due to the lack of apple options on the trees. After this, we hauled the apples back to the car and picked up some pumpkins, decorative corn, and apple cider they have at the store at the entrance of the farm. On the plus side, they have really good fresh apple cider doughnuts available for purchase. Unfortunately, the lady who sold the doughnuts to my friend seemed like she was in a huge rush and shoved his doughnuts at him :(All in all, if I wanted to get apples from a bin, I could of gotten a lot more for $23 at my local super market. I will be trying a different farm next year.

My wife and I have gone there for 19 years and used to love this place until this last visit. My rating is based mostly on the horrible customer service. We were asked to leave by one of the owners, Tony Moriello, because some guy had a dog that was barking and I happened to speak to him. Moriello got very angry and threatening because of this dog and decided to aggressively yell at us to get off his property and never come back. I hadn't done a thing except speak to the man with the dog. Moriello basically got in my face, at which time I smelled alcohol on his breath, I believe it was his son that intervened, not by apologizing, but by containing him. His son said he has Alzheimer's which is sad and unfortunate but the man needs to be kept away from customers, for everyone's sake.Almost 20 years of memories soured by someone that should no longer be interacting with the public. In addition to the awful treatment we received I offer some more objective observations. The selection of apples is very limited and there are many large ground hog holes which you could easily break an ankle or leg if not careful.I choose to vote with my dollar and won't be going back there and advise that you try one of the many other orchards in New Paltz, where hopefully they'll treat you better, especially if you are a return customer.

We have been coming here to pick apples for at least 15 years. We love the family that owns the farm, we love the views from up on the hill,we love the rides on the vintage fire truck, we love the vast variety of apples that are available. Our children are grown now, and we STILL make the trip to Apple Hill Farm, but now our oldest son is driving us!! A big hello to Tony!!
